[Subjects and Contents] Students study about physical properties, fabrication methods, analysis methods, and applications of oxide thin films that can be applied to fuel cells and memory devices. Students probe the influence of the surface/interface structure on the electrical properties of thin films prepared by sputtering method and analyzing the structure, electrical properties, optical properties and electronic structure of the film. Based on these results, you design materials to improve the characteristics of fuel cells and memory elements and design a new device structure. (All students will be required to take more than half of their classes face-to-face.) [First quarter] First, students understand the research situation and pose problems by conducting literature research on oxide semiconductors and memory and fuel cell devices. [Second quarter] Second, students improve and maintain your sputtering system in order to understand advanced technology of film deposition technique by sputtering method. Students study the X-ray and infrared diffraction method and analyze the crystal structure and microstructure of the thin film. Furthermore, students study about the electronic structures of surface and interface. [Third quarter] Third, students study how to evaluate the electrical characteristics using a semiconductor / dielectric analyzer. In addition, students prepare a memory or fuel cell device and evaluate the I-V characteristics and C-V characteristics. [Fourth quarter] Fourth, students evaluate electrical characteristics and memory elements when applying pulse voltage. Students enhance your presentation skills by presenting research results at academic international conferences. Finnaly, students submit the research results as English papers. Students should actively discuss with the instructor in order to greatly develop their research. Furthermore, the instructor may discuss in English in preparation for presentation at the international conference. Work experience of the instructor
