Class plan

[Sunjects and Contents]
Students study about physical properties, fabrication methods, analysis methods, and applications of oxide thin films that can be applied to fuel cells and resistance change memory. Students investigate the influence of the surface/interface structure on the electrical properties of thin films prepared by sputtering method and analyzing the structure, electrical properties, optical properties and electronic structure of the film. Then, you can understand the novel physical properties that occur in strongly correlated electron system oxide thin films.
(All students will be required to take more than half of their classes face-to-face.)

[First quarter]
First, students understand the literature on oxide semiconductor and thin film fabrication. Based on this document, students propose problems and improvements.

[Second quarter]
Second, students improve and maintain your sputtering system in order to understand advanced technology of film deposition technique by sputtering method. Students will study the X-ray and infrared diffraction method and analyze the crystal structure and microstructure of the thin film. Furthermore, students study about the electronic structures of surface and interface.

[Third quarter]
Third, students syudy the experimental method (AC impedance method, I-V characteristic etc of semiconductor etc.) for analyzing the electric characteristics etc of the oxide semiconductor thin film. By using this analytical method, students evaluate the electronic structure and electrical properties of the thin film.

[Fourth quarter]
Fourth, students evaluate the fundamental properties of fuel cell and memory device. Based on this data, you consider the charge transfer phenomenon of the surface and the interface. Students enhance your presentation skills by presenting research results at academic conferences. Finnaly, students summarize the research results into English papers.
