概要 Description

Master the experimental numerical and theoretical methods in softmatter, bio, and nonequilibrium physics.
目的 Objectives

By handling softmatter, biomaterial, and nonequilibrium phenomena, one gains various methods of physics, which are relevant for understanding natural phenomena. In addition, experimental and numerical techniques, reading comprehension of scientific papers, and presentation skills will be provided. Training in research ethics will be delivered in a practical setting.
Outcomes

1. Understand and apply theoretical frameworks for nonequilibrium phenomena.
2. Master experimental techniques for handling soft and bio matter.
3. Construct mathematical model for various natural and social phenomena.
4. Use writing skills in English and Japanese to publicize his/her research.
Course notes prerequisites

Continuous effort for research will be required. Proceeding on research should be reported weekly. Seminar on research paper will be given every week.

Preparation and review

Before each presentation on an academic text, all participants must read the text. For the experiments, safety information should be obtained beforehand from SDS, etc. A review must be done if there is any contradiction in the logic demonstrated in seminars and presentations.
Performance grading policy

Evaluation is based on presentation and participation in seminars. Comments and questions in the seminar are especially relevant. Presentation of research for the public, such as conferences and papers, will also be considered.
