In the graduation research, students will conduct research on the functional integration of thin-film materials through material design by crystal growth. The research will focus on the epitaxial growth of thin films of various functional materials such as semiconductors, superconductors, and ferroelectrics, which will lead to the development of quantum computers, quantum information communications, power electronics, and novel semiconductors for AI calculations.

Examples of research themes
(1) Epitaxial growth of novel quantum device materials by fusing semiconductors and superconductors
(2) Epitaxial growth of nitride semiconductor power electronics materials
(3) Epitaxial growth of semiconductor materials for artificial intelligence

In the first half of the first semester, students will be trained in crystal growth methods and characterization techniques related to the graduation research theme.
In the second half of the first semester, epitaxial growth and chracterization of thin films will be conducted to carry out experiments on their own.
In the first half of the second semester, students will plan and carry out experiments in accordance with the objectives of their graduation research.
In the second half of the second semester, students will complete their graduation research by summarizing and discussing the experimental data obtained.

Through the first and second semesters, students will acquire the ability to carry out research by continuously conducting thin film growth, evaluation, discussion, and planning of experiments.
