概要 Description
Sugar chains play various physiological roles in nature and various places in organisms. This is mainly due to the complexity of carbohydrate chain structures, and various enzymes are needed to synthesize and degrade these various structures. However, there are still many unknown areas regarding the diversity of enzymes that act on sugar chains. In this Master Thesis Research, students characterize functions of novel enzymes acting on carbohydrate chains and perform structural analysis to reveal structural factors for the functions at the molecular level to acquire the research results worth obtaining the Master's degree and to learn expertise, specialized skills and thinking ability to carry out researches.
The purpose of this course is to reveal variety of carbohydrate-active enzymes by analysis of functions and structures of these enzymes related to various kinds of life phenomena. Students aim to acquire specialized knowledge and research techniques for analysis of proteins at the molecular level through biochemical experimental techniques and X-ray crystallography with a focus on proteins. Students also aim to obtain ability to carry out research by reading related original papers, experimenting with understanding principles of analysis, and presenting their studies.
