概要 Description
This course deals with graph theory, which is a mathematical discipline required for the study of bioinformatics. In many fields including bioinformatics, large complex systems can be represented by graphs or networks. Students will learn many different types of graphs and their properties, as well as applications of graph theory to bioinformatics.
Students should acquire knowledge of graph theory and master the method for applying this knowledge to molecular sequence analysis. This course includes contents for cultivating advanced expertise and research skills as stated in the diploma policy of the department.
Students should be able to: - Acquire the basic vocabulary of graph theory and understand the statements and proofs of many of the important theorems. - Know how graph theory has been used in bioinformatics and explain the problems of these applications. - Recognize how to apply different algorithms for analyzing large and complex biological data.
