授業計画 Class plan

1. Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Experiments
The objective of this course is to have students master the basic principles learned in the "Chemical Engineering" class through observation and experience. This section outlines the contents of each experiment and the various precautions to be taken when conducting experiments.

2. Flow characteristics
Through the flow of incompressible Newtonian tap water in a circular pipe, the flow rate is measured using an orifice meter, and the flow state and pressure loss in the circular pipe are observed to understand the concept of energy balance, which is the basis of the experiments.

3. Sedimentation separation (A) Particle size distribution of solid particle groups
Using an Andreasen pipette, students calculate the particle size distribution of calcium carbonate powder based on the sedimentation method and deepen their understanding of particle motion in a stationary fluid, which is the basis of sedimentation separation.

4. Sedimentation separation (B) Interfacial settling velocity of a group of solid particles
Students measure the interfacial settling velocity of single particles (glass spheres) using a cylinder, consider the relationship between settling velocity and particle concentration, and deepen their understanding of the principles of sedimentation separation.

5. Agitation and mixing
Students acquire basic knowledge of stirring operations by measuring the required power, mixing speed, discharge flow rate, etc. of a batch-type stirred tank-type reaction device, and by observing the flow state when the blade type and operating conditions are changed.

6. Automatic Control
The objective of this course is to understand the principles of process control systems and to master the basics of design methods. The dynamic characteristics of temperature control in a reaction vessel are determined using the step response method, and the optimum adjustment values for PID control systems are discussed.

7. Piping
Using a rectifying column plant as an example, students experience designing a plant from a process perspective through piping design using an engineering model and building a model.

8. Combustion simulation
Through simulation of combustion processes, students learn about the mass balance and heat balance of processes involving chemical reactions.
