概要 Description

At the beginning of the first grade of the master's program, you make roughly the research plan for two years. Successively, you survey the precedents of own research theme and discuss the objective with our supervisor(s) in order to gain the overall picture of what has been elucidated and what are the unresolved issues in the field so far. Such research work gives that you acquire the research skills and methodologies necessary to overcome the problems and conduct the research to open up unexplored areas in own research field.
This course is established in the second grade of the master's program. The objective is to acquire specialized knowledge and develop the capability to promote the research on their own specialized topics related to molecular integrated chemistry, molecular science, organic reaction chemistry, materials chemistry, energy chemistry, environment-related chemistry, industrial chemistry, and so forth in collaboration with our supervisor(s).
目的 Objectives

By carefully reading scientific precedents and patents related to the research theme you are carrying out on in the master's research, you will be able to clarify important points and understand the objective of the master's research. Furthermore, you will be able to present their research results at academic conferences, publish scientific papers, and apply for patents if you find the excellent technical results. Finally, you will hone their technical skills as researchers and engineers.
Outcomes

While conducting the research, you will be able to accurately explain the research content and results in not only written, but also oral form. Concomitantly, you acquire the capability to disseminate the cutting-edge research results to the entire world as scientific papers.

Preparation and review

You should make the experimental plans to achieve the objectives in their individual research themes, and summarize the experimental results and discussions obtained on a daily basis in an experimental notebook. In addition, you prepare the research reports, and orally explain the results and discuss at regularly scheduled seminars.
Performance grading policy

We evaluate carefully your attitude toward research including cooperativeness in the laboratory, the content and presentation of research results in seminars, question-and-answer sessions, conference presentations, and preparation of scientific paper.

Class plan

※ We require that our laboratory members should attend all classes face-to-face.

Our laboratory promotes the research to fabricate promising photonic devices using soft organic materials, such as liquid crystals and polymer hydrogels, by considering the interaction between light and matter. Moreover, by hybridizing atomic-scale inorganic nanomaterials and optoelectronic functional organic materials, we aim to develop novel research areas that can contribute to technological innovations in next-generation optoelectronics, such as highly efficient solar cells and high-brightness displays.

First half of the first semester
You conduct the research and development of novel functional organic and polymeric materials and luminescent nanomaterials, which are related with the emergence of functional properties, measurement methodologies for physical properties, laser spectroscopy, and other research topics through surveying the precedents.

Second half of the first semester
You promote the research as clarifying the motivation and significance of own research in the relevant field.

First half of the second semester
You carry out the research as finding the strategies to overcome problems identified to date.

Second half of the second semester
You promote the research as developing a research plan that incorporates unprecedented material design guidelines and innovative approaches. In addition, we request that you appeal own research achievements at the academic conferences as well as in the scientific papers.
