概要 Description

At the beginning of the first year, students will formulate a broad research plan for a two-year project. They will then develop a comprehensive understanding of the field by conducting literature reviews and engaging in discussions with their academic advisor to determine what has been clarified so far and what unresolved issues remain. Throughout this process, while engaging in experimental research, students will acquire the techniques and methodologies necessary for problem-solving and carry out research aimed at pioneering unexplored areas within their specialized field.

This course is offered in the first year of the master’s program. Under the supervision of a faculty advisor, students will pursue their individual research topics in areas such as molecular assembly chemistry, molecular science, organic reaction chemistry, materials chemistry, energy chemistry, environmental chemistry, and industrial chemistry. The aim is to deepen their expertise and develop the ability to independently advance research in their field.
目的 Objectives

Building on the progress of previous research, students will work closely with their academic advisor to plan and develop a new research direction. They will make full use of their acquired knowledge of organic chemistry and experimental techniques to tackle novel research themes and unresolved problems in chemistry. Through these research activities, the course aims to help students develop the skills and expertise necessary to become competent researchers or chemical engineers.
Outcomes

Students will develop the ability to conduct a wide range of experiments safely and accurately. They will be encouraged to take on technically challenging experiments and acquire stable experimental techniques that yield highly reproducible results. They will also learn how to carry out research efficiently by building strong planning skills, enabling them to perform multiple experiments in a day while managing classes, supervising undergraduate students, working as teaching assistants, and preparing for job hunting.

Students will become capable of considering the direction of their research with constant awareness of its academic significance. They will learn to gather the latest information broadly, not limited to their immediate field, and critically evaluate their own work. Additionally, they will acquire the skills needed for research presentations and discussions, allowing them to participate effectively in laboratory meetings and respond appropriately to questions at academic conferences.
