概要 Description

Students will conduct primarily experimental research to understand, at both the molecular and organismal levels, host responses to emergence of cancer cells, elimination of oncogenic mutant cells through cell competition, mechanisms underlying lymphatic metastasis, the relationship between cellular senescence and cancer malignancy, and role of stromal cells during the early stages of tumor development.
目的 Objectives

Students will acquire knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, cancer biology, genetics, and related fields, as well as learn methodologies used in research. Based on that, students will conduct research to address unsolved problems in these area, summarize and present their results at both internal external meetings, and gain deeper insights through discussion.
Outcomes

Students will understand unsolved questions in the field of cancer biology and acquire an ability to address them through research. Students will also develop skills to communicate their findings to society and to apply the outcomes to their careers.

Class plan

[Outline]
1) Students need to collect and review relevant academic literature, primarily research articles, on the current knowledge and recent advances in their field of study, and use this information to determine their research direction.
2) Students need to discuss the research techniques and equipment required to carry out their studies, and, when the introduction of new technologies is necessary, collaborate with faculty members in relevant laboratories to acquire the necessary skills.
3) Students need to present the progress of their research approximately once every three months in laboratory seminars, discuss the content with others, and, when problems arise, engage in discussions to seek for possible solutions.
4) Students need to develop the ability necessary to become independent researchers through these activities.

[Workflow]
Students need to carry out their research in accordance with their experimental plans, continuously gather up-to-date information, and actively communicate with other researchers through seminars and presentations.
