概要 Description

At the beginning of the first year, students formulate a general research plan for a two-year research project. They then develop a comprehensive understanding of the field by investigating what has already been clarified and what remains unresolved, through literature review and discussions with their academic advisor. During this process, students engage in experimental research while acquiring the necessary techniques and methodologies for problem-solving, ultimately aiming to explore uncharted areas within their field of specialization.

This course is conducted in the first year of the master’s program. Under the guidance of a faculty advisor, students pursue their individual research topics in areas such as molecular assembly chemistry, molecular science, organic reaction chemistry, materials chemistry, energy chemistry, environmental chemistry, and industrial chemistry. The aim is to acquire specialized knowledge and cultivate the ability to conduct and advance research independently.
目的 Objectives

Building on the research progress made so far, students will work closely with their academic advisor to develop a new research direction. They will fully apply their acquired knowledge of organic chemistry and experimental techniques to tackle unexplored themes and unresolved problems in the field of chemistry. The goal of this course is to cultivate the skills and expertise necessary to become a capable researcher or chemical engineer through these research activities.
Outcomes

Students will develop the ability to conduct a wide range of experiments safely and accurately. They will be encouraged to take on technically demanding experiments and acquire stable, reproducible techniques through persistent effort.
They will learn how to carry out research efficiently by building strong planning skills that enable them to perform multiple experiments in a single day, even while balancing coursework, supervising undergraduate students, working as a teaching assistant, and preparing for job hunting.
Students will also become capable of considering the direction of their research with a constant awareness of its academic significance. They will broaden their horizons beyond their immediate field to gather the latest information and develop the ability to critically evaluate their own work.
Finally, they will gain the skills to present and discuss their research effectively, participating in laboratory meetings and responding appropriately to questions at academic conferences.
