概要 Description
This course will immerse students in a reading-focused environment. In the first half of the semester, we will analyze key elements of literature, such as author, character, setting, plot, and theme, to help you identify and discuss these aspects in stories. The second half of the semester will focus on extensive reading practice. Using graded readers and the M-Reader program, you will engage with as many stories as possible, completing short online quizzes to track your word count as preparation for the final report. This final submission will be a book report that combines your understanding of story elements from the first half of the course with your personal reading choices from the second half. Essentially, you will write about your favorite story from your extensive reading experience.
目的 Objectives
到達目標 Outcomes
The aim of this course is to develop students’ reading and writing skills. By reading various texts with different topics, students will enhance their ability to identify the main ideas and supporting details of a text without relying on translation into Japanese. Students will improve their grammar and word usage skills through reading texts, and will also be able to express their critical thinking on various topics in English through discussions and paragraph writing assignments.
