概要 Description

This class is taken in the first semester of the first year of the doctoral course. Through intensive discussions with the supervisor, students develop logical thinking and problem-solving abilities on a specialized topic in inorganic chemistry, aim to achieve their research objectives, and disseminate their research results through publications in journals and presentations at academic conferences, both domestically and internationally.
目的 Objectives

In the beginning of the first year of the doctoral course, one will formulate a systematic and feasible research plan for the entire doctoral research project, and understand the overall situation of research progress and unresolved problems in the target specialized field, through literature survey and advanced discussions with the supervisor. During these processes, one will learn advanced techniques, methodologies, and theoretical frameworks required to solve the problems, while performing experiments and analyses, and conduct research to explore and develop previously uncharted areas in one's specialized research field.
Outcomes

To realize the objectives of the class, acquiring the ability to independently and proactively conduct advanced research activities, including critical literature survey, experimental design and execution, data analysis, preparation of academic reports and papers, and presentations at conferences, at a level appropriate for the first year of the doctoral course, under the guidance of the supervisor.

Preparation and review

Preparation: Proactively and systematically surveying literature, critically analyzing the current state of research and existing issues, formulating research plans, and conducting preliminary experiments and analyses if necessary.

Review: When one topic is completed, critically evaluating the validity of experimental methods, analyses, and interpretations, summarizing improvement points and insufficient knowledge in a structured manner, and feeding them back into the next research topic.

Reference and other materials

No specific textbook is assigned. Students are expected to proactively consult recent research papers, review articles, and specialized books related to their research topics.
Relevant literature and materials may be provided by the supervisor when necessary.

Class plan

Based on one's own research field, students set their research topics and refine their research plans through advanced discussions with the supervisor, and prepare a research plan document. By systematically and critically surveying the literature, they understand the current state of related research, including academic background (research trends and positioning in Japan and abroad) and unresolved issues, and clarify the originality as well as the academic and social significance of their research. Through this process, students develop advanced skills in information collection and analysis.

Based on the plan, students proactively conduct research, improve and optimize experimental systems and analytical methods based on obtained results, and acquire advanced experimental techniques, characterization methods, and theoretical frameworks necessary for the research. In particular, they conduct advanced research on energy conversion materials and devices such as fuel cells, vibration power generation systems, and lithium-ion secondary batteries, and develop their research in an independent manner.
