概要 Description
This course focuses on internationalization strategies for Japanese companies and picks up several major topics related to international business. For each topic, based on theoretical memo or teaching materials which are prepared beforehand, students try to find successful patterns of overseas expansion through case study analysis. Therefore, in the latter sessions, comparisons will be made with developments in developed countries, developments in small and medium-sized enterprises, and developments with Western companies, in order to relativize and deepen the understanding of the content accumulated in the previous lectures. I am considering two types of case analysis: one is to have students analyze cases that I have prepared, and the other is to have students select a company, conduct their own research, and analyze the information they have researched (i.e., their own case analysis). In both cases, I will ask the person in charge to analyze the data in advance and to summarize the results of the analysis in a small report. In the lecture, discussion will be based on those reports.
Overseas expansion of business is one way to expand scale of innovation. In this sense, international management is one of the most essential topics to develop an ability to enhance innovation of your business. Therefore, this class aims to following two points. 1. Understanding of whole picture of international business and basic major topics related to international business. 2. Understanding of influence of country of origin on pattern of internationalization. This course is a specialized course. The relevance of this course to the diploma policy and curriculum policy of the program can be found in the "Course Registration Guide."
The attainment objectives are to acquire the abilities, perspectives and knowledge described in the "Objectives" section. More concretely expressed, the following two points are the attainment objectives. 1. To be able to make a reasonable introductory discussion, especially from the viewpoint of technology management, when faced with problems related to overseas expansion and international management in practice, or when interested in topics related to overseas expansion and international management in the case studies of the company and other companies. To acquire frameworks, concepts and basic logics useful for this purpose.
2. To be able to apply each content (especially theory) introduced in class to analysis and discussion related to operations not directly related to overseas expansion.
To acquire the knowledge necessary to meet the curriculum policy requirements of the program (refer to the "Course Registration Guide").
