概要 Description
This course develops essential listening, speaking, and presentation skills to help students with their academic goals. Students learn key academic skills as they engage with TED talks and themes and skills, such as global awareness, literacy and critical thinking.
目的 Objectives
Students will learn essential vocabulary for a specific theme, and be able to use them to express their opinions. An expanded focus is on academic note-taking and critical thinking.
到達目標 Outcomes
Students will familiarize themselves with common topics in news media, habits, risk taking, and will be able to give a presentation or engage in a debate on those topics. They will learn speaking, pronunciation, presentation skills to give a good presentation and construct a debate effectively (CEFR B2 Can Do List for speaking: "Students can reasonably fluently sustain a straightforward description of one of a variety of subjects within his/her field of interest, presenting it as a linear sequence of points"). Discussions which promote students’ critical thinking will be conducted.
