概要 Description
In this course, students will learn practical communication skills in English. We will focus on discussions and everyday reading and writing tasks. There will also be at home vocabulary study to improve TOEIC scores.
Although this course uses a textbook, students will mostly be active in the class and will be speaking and writing most of the time. The textbook helps guide the course BUT it is not the main focus. 目的 Objectives
--Students will be able to read texts aligned to the A2-B1 CEFR level and then engage in discussions using the content that they have read.
--Students will be able to listen to audio texts aligned to the A2-B1 level and then demonstrate comprehension of these texts. --Students will produce written texts achieving practical communicative functions in English demonstrating adequate grammar and vocabulary competencies. --Students will study TOEIC vocabulary words in a self-guided manner to improve their scores and develop independent study habits. Students will stretch their English skills to best prepare them for their professional life. SIGNIFICANT pre-study and post-study are required to develop skills and prepare students to apply practical usage during class time. The objectives are based on building confidence communicating in a professional situation and succeeding in the TOEIC test. Upon completion, successful students will be able to listen, read and analyze authentic material needed for everyday job-related topics. They will better understand the standard speech encountered in the workplace and will be able to follow and create structured and straightforward presentations. 到達目標 Outcomes
Students will achieve the following by the end of the course:
--increased vocabulary size --greater comfortable with extended discussions --experience writing everyday/practical texts in English --familiarity with content aligned to the B1 CEFR band 卒業認定・学位授与の方針との関係(学部科目のみ)
