概要 Description

This course aims to deepen and expand the knowledge about animal organ development and regeneration, in terms of regulation of cell growth and differentiation, signal transduction pathways, and networks of gene expression. Students are required to read research papers and textbooks that report new findings of developmental biology, and perform a presentation to explain the contents of them.
目的 Objectives

The objective of this course is to deepen the knowledge of developmental biology and related research field, such as stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. To achieve this objective, students are expected to read research papers that report new findings of developmental biology, and perform a presentation to explain the contents of the papers. In addition, the students are also expected to participate in the presentation performed by other students.
Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to the following,
1. Read academic journals and scientific books to find newly published papers of the research field in developmental biology.
2. Explain the contents described in the papers and sited in them to lab member.
3. Participate in the presentation performed by other students, and show your opinions and questions.

Preparation and review

Read the academic journal of the research field related to developmental biology routinely to keep an interest in the research. Students should read more than three papers in a month.
Performance grading policy

Grading will be based on attendance to the meeting, and daily activity of the study. In addition to understanding of the research paper, the contents of the presentation and the attitude of each student in participating to the meeting, are also evaluated
