概要 Description
Our laboratory aims to pioneer novel biochemical research through aptamer/protein engineering and its applications. We will achieve this goal by studying new biochemical mechanisms arising from the development of novel molecules, including aptamers—ligands composed of DNA or RNA—and artificial proteins developed through genetic engineering or protein science techniques, in addition to the biochemistry inherent in existing biomolecules. As application fields and examples, we handle proteins related to neurodegenerative diseases. We conduct research not only in vitro but also using cells, animals, and human-derived tissues, aiming to produce medically significant research outcomes beyond the biochemical field. There are four research items below, and assigned students will conduct research related to one or more of these themes. (1) Aptamer discovery and elucidation of their binding mechanisms (2) Control of protein function by aptamers and elucidation of their regulatory mechanisms (3) Application of useful enzymes derived from microorganisms to biosensing (4) Development of novel sensing systems combining aptamers, enzymes, and antibodies 目的 Objectives
1. Within a given theme, students will be able to set their own goals and energetically pursue knowledge acquisition, skill improvement, and the development of logical thinking methods to achieve those goals. 2. Students will acquire the experimental techniques necessary to achieve their set goals and become capable of obtaining data. 3. Develop the planning skills, initiative, enthusiasm, and motivation essential for any profession. 4. Acquire the coordination and communication skills necessary to exchange information and collaborate with people both inside and outside the laboratory to advance research.
As this is the first year, the goal is to formulate a research plan and acquire data through the execution of research. Additionally, the goal is to become capable of disseminating research content through presentations at domestic and international conferences.

First Semester: Utilize the biochemical experimental techniques learned in the fourth year to generate experimental data. Additionally, acquire new fundamental experimental techniques to advance toward further analysis and interpretation. Furthermore, thoroughly read multiple literature sources relevant to each research theme to understand the background of the research. Through discussions with the supervising professor, formulate experimental and research plans, and advance experimental preparations by conducting preliminary experiments. At the research progress meeting, present your experimental/research plan and the results of the preliminary experiments. Second Semester: Continue conducting experiments based on the planned experimental design to collect data. Additionally, deepen your understanding of your own experiments and research through discussions with your advisor. At the research progress meeting, present the results of your experiments according to your experimental/research plan and use this to develop plans for subsequent experiments. Work experience of the instructor
