概要 Description

The characteristics of electronic states and the magnetic, electrical, and optical properties of solids will be addressed on the basis of quantum mechanics.
目的 Objectives

The behavior of electrons in solids is described by quantum mechanics. Students will understand what type of electronic state appears owing to the quantum effect and what type of physical quantity appears as a consequence of the electronic states. This is a "basic subject," necessary to acquire the advanced expertise specified in the curriculum policy of this department.
Outcomes

Students will understand the characteristics of the electronic states, which is the basis of the magnetic, electrical, and optical properties in solids. Students are also expected to explain the correspondence between electronic states and physical properties exhibited by a solid.
