概要 Description

The application areas of electronic materials, such as metals, semiconductors, insulators, ferroelectrics, superconductors, and magnetic materials, are diverse. In this lecture, students aim to comprehensively learn about the structure and physical properties of electronic materials from physical and chemical perspectives, with the goal of achieving a comprehensive understanding of the materials.
目的 Objectives

Based on Sections 1, 2, and 5 of the Curriculum Policy, this is an elective course designed to deepen specialized knowledge and cultivate the ability to identify and solve problems from an interdisciplinary perspective. This course contributes to the realization of the Diploma Policy.

In the first half, students will learn the general theory of materials' structures and physical properties based on quantum mechanics and inorganic chemistry. Initially, the focus will be on understanding the crystal structures of solids and structural analysis methods, to comprehend the composition of matter. Following this, the behavior of electrons within crystals will be studied, to understand the relationship with electronic properties.
In the latter half, individual electronic materials will be discussed in detail. The focus will be primarily on the optical and electronic properties of semiconductors, expanding towards dielectrics, superconductors, magnetic materials, and quantum materials.
Outcomes

Using the knowledge of mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and inorganic chemistry learned so far, students will be able to classify materials and understand the unique structures and physical properties of each electronic material.
