概要 Description
This course will build on what we learned in Writing & Composition Ib from the development of basic sentence and paragraph writing skills to longer multi-paragraph structured writing on different themes within our ability. The writing will be based on theme-topic readings and discussion about the topics. Our practice writing assignments and tests will be based on the themes and the best of our practice writing assignments will be collected in book-style collections grouped around the themes.
目的 Objectives
Like with W&C Ia, we will start with short readings and discussions about the reading topics, with practice writing on the topics, then moving on to the writing assignments that will be later collected into short digital "book-style" writing collections, plus the two (2) writing tests we will have. The topics will cover the social and hard sciences and the humanities.
到達目標 Outcomes
Over this course, we will be able to eventually write to a greater level on different themes and topics.

About individual feedback for writing
It will be still very difficult for me to give individual comments to you for your practice writing assignments because of the size of the classes and the time it takes to review and grade your writing. Therefore, before your writing assignments, I will give a detailed guide in Japanese and English in a writing rubric that will give you an idea of what to prepare for and what your goal should be for your writing assignments.

After you have submitted your tests and assignments, I will give generalized comments on things I see in the writing for quality of the content, the use of English, and how well, to your ability, you have made clear your topic and the details and explanations within what the topic needed. I will also give suggestions and tips on how your writing could be improved wherever I have seen things that need improvement. (I will not name individual students for any errors or anything else lacking in writing assignments.)

書誌情報 Bibliographic information
As with W&C Ia, there is no textbook for this course. Instead, readings and links will be still uploaded to LETUS - the TUS learning management system (LMS). While I will still not have any actual homework, any in-class practice writing and practice writing assignments we have in the class time that is not finished has to be finished outside of class.  All practice writing assignments will be uploaded to LETUS. 1-2 hours for review of theme and topic content will help you to prepare for the classes.
