概要 Description
Academic English 1: Perspective and Presentation
In this course, students will engage in regular small-group discussions in English on a range of different topics. Some discussions will centre on current trends and innovation in science and technology, while others will focus on important social and cultural issues in contemporary Japan and in the wider world. Students will learn how to develop and express their viewpoints with skill and confidence. They will also improve their competence in public speaking by delivering more formal presentations in English. 目的 Objectives
There are two broad objectives to the course. The first is to significantly improve students’ ability to express their ideas and opinions in spoken English. Students will be given ample opportunity to practise speaking in class, which will help them to develop the necessary fluency and confidence to engage in meaningful discussion on a variety of topics. The second aim of the course is to cultivate in students the habits of sound academic practice, including evidence-based argumentation, clear logical reasoning, critical thinking and the ability to look at complex issues from different angles.
