概要 Description

Physical organic chemistry explores the unique structural and electronic properties of organic compounds and elucidates their influence on chemical behavior. This discipline encompasses the three fundamental aspects of chemistry—reaction, structure, and properties—making it a broad and diverse area of study.
This class covers the foundational topics of physical organic chemistry, including chemical bonding theory, molecular orbital theory, stereochemistry, and aromaticity. Based on these concepts, the course comprehensively introduces the electronic properties of molecules, such as conductivity, magnetism, and optical characteristics.
目的 Objectives

This course aims to systematically explore the fundamental concepts of physical organic chemistry and develop the ability to apply them from an advanced perspective. Students will acquire an understanding of how molecular structure and electronic states influence physical properties and reactivity while learning theoretical frameworks such as molecular orbital theory, aromaticity, and intermolecular interactions. Additionally, the course will examine how molecular strain and stereochemistry contribute to unique physical properties and introduce the latest research on organic luminescence diodes (OLEDs) and organic semiconductors to explore the potential for functional organic material design and development. Through this course, students will strengthen their knowledge of organic chemistry while cultivating logical thinking and applied skills in molecular design and materials development.
