概要 Description

Students study assigned books or papers related to their major fields and explain their studies in classes with a small number of participants.
目的 Objectives

This course enables students to
・understand thoroughly and explain their subjects in classes
・acquire basic knowledge and fundamental techniques of investigations based on the modern number theory, thus establishing a foundation for original research
・acquire skills of logical presentation and, by practicing, foster logical thinking and self-expression, which would be beneficial in career development
・acquire deep knowledge of mathematics, without which people cannot serve as good teachers in high or junior high schools.
Outcomes

Students should
・be able to state definitions and significant theorems with regard to the basic theory of elliptic curve and its arithmetic
・be able to explain the formation of a theory based on propositions and theorems and provide their proofs
・be able to calculate or explain easy examples for the aforementioned topics
・be able to convey the content of their own discovery or subjects they learned clearly and logically
・be able to consider participants who do not understand the explanations provided.

Preparation and review

Students should review unclear points and raise the level of understanding. Students should examine the content of their presentation for the next seminar and ensure that the lecture is well organized and can be finished within a given time.
