概要 Description

This course begins with a brief overview of Gröbner basis theory without proofs, and then introduces the theory of floating-point Gröbner bases.
It explains techniques for stabilizing the Buchberger algorithm, which becomes unstable when executed with floating-point approximations.
Finally, the course covers a theory of stabilizing algebraic algorithms that generalizes these techniques.
目的 Objectives

The aim of this course is to recognize the instability issues that arise when symbolic computation algorithms designed for exact computation are executed using approximate computations such as floating-point arithmetic, which can generally lead to completely different outputs, and to understand the theory of stabilization methods for addressing these issues.
Outcomes

1.  Students will be able to understand the theory of Gröbner bases.

2.  Students will be able to understand Buchberger’s algorithm and actually compute Gröbner bases for simple examples.

3.  Students will be able to recognize that executing Buchberger’s algorithm with floating-point approximations can lead to unstable results.

4.  Students will be able to understand stabilization techniques for Buchberger's algorithm that yield stable results even when using floating-point approximations.

5.  As a generalization of these stabilization techniques, students will be able to understand the theory of stabilizing algebraic algorithms.
