概要 Description
Reading and Writing Skills 1 is designed for first-year students. Its aim is to prepare students for further studies at university and lay a foundation for the use of English in the future, at work and in research. This will be achieved by revising the basic grammar and vocabulary learned in secondary school and using this in more practical situations. Reading and Writing Skills 1 is followed by Reading and Writing Skills 2 in the second year of studies.
目的 Objectives
Students will enhance their views on cultural and historical backgrounds of the English-speaking world as well as current global issues by critical reading of appropriate level-graded materials. The main objectives are:
(1) Consolidate vocabulary and grammar studied in secondary school
(2) Improve reading speed
(3) Improve sentence-level writing ability
到達目標 Outcomes
Students will improve their understanding of grammar and how to read critically. This understanding will enhance your reading speed in gaining main points and in answering specific questions about content. Students will gain a better understanding of how to write clear, concise and grammatically accurate sentences that explain what they have read.

This class is devised to help provide the following:
•To broaden an outlook on Nature/Human Beings/ Society
•To think logically and critically
•To communicate ideas
