概要 Description
□This course begins with instruction in the basic skills required for scholarly writing. Students will then clarify their areas of research interest and determine concrete research topics. Through independent literature review and examination of previous studies, students will identify the academic positioning of their thesis topics and specify the issues to be addressed. The primary objective of the course is to cultivate students’ ability to integrate the specialized knowledge they have acquired in order to formulate appropriate research questions in management and develop effective solutions. Students will select a research theme in line with this objective and continue their research over the course of the year, taking responsibility for planning and conducting their work and completing it by the required deadlines. In each class session, students will present research challenges, analysis results based on their own data collection, and plans for future progress. The course guides students in developing their research into a master’s thesis consistent with their individual marketing or social research topics. Students are also expected to actively engage in external competitions and collaborative research with companies when relevant to their research themes. Presentations will be given on assigned topics to facilitate the sharing of information within the seminar.

Students are expected to attend over half of the scheduled class meetings in person.
目的 Objectives
□The course is designed to cultivate research competencies in the areas of Management and Management Science, as outlined in the diploma policy of the Department of Business Administration. It also supports students in pursuing research toward their master’s thesis in marketing data analytics and social research.
Outcomes

Course notes prerequisites

Preparation and review
□Credit recognition for this course is based on the requirement of 90 hours of study per 2 credits, which includes the two hours of each weekly class. Thus, students must allocate about four hours per week to preparation and review. Students are expected to complete the following study activities on their own before the next session.

□Review (approx. 2 hours)
Students must carefully review the material covered in each session and cultivate the ability to analyze market developments reported in newspapers and other news sources. They are also expected to prepare sufficiently to understand both their assigned portions and those assigned to their peers.

□Preparation (approx. 2 hours)
Students are required to develop the ability to independently use the mathematical techniques introduced in the lectures. They should also prepare sufficiently to engage in discussions on research topics different from their own.
In terms of data analysis, students are expected to learn programming languages such as Python and R, along with analytical tools such as SPSS, SAS, and Visual Mining Studio.

Performance grading policy
