概要 Description
素粒子物理学の高度に専門的な知識を習得し、未知の現象を解明するための実験による研究を行う。
Learn elementary particle physics and proceed experimental research. 目的 Objectives
This course is aimed at graduate students to learn -elementary particle physics and the mechanism of particles and their interactions. -experimental methods to proceed their research subjects. -how to make research plans and proceed their research along them. -data analysis methods to extract physics from the observed data. -how to public the outcomes of their research by writing scientific papers and present them at workshops/conferences. The objective of the program is to acquire advanced knowledge, as well as problem-finding and problem-solving skills based on this knowledge, as stated in the Diploma Policy. 到達目標 Outcomes
-自らが主体となり、研究テーマの設定、計画の立案、実験の遂行、研究成果の発信までを実行することができる。
-参考文献や共同研究者との意見交換などにより、研究を進めるために必要な物理学および実験手法の専門的な知識を自主的に習得することができる。 -博士課程の期間には自らの研究により、未知の現象を解明する、もしくは、過去の研究を上回る精度で物理現象の測定を行うことにより、人類の物理に対する知見を広げる。 - Proceed their own research subjects from the planning to the publications/presentations. - Learn expert knowledge by themselves from the reference papers, communication with collaborators and other approaches. - Explore our knowledge of physics through their doctor course, by revealing yet unknown phenomenon or improve the precision of the physics parameters by their experimental research.

Research instruction plan will be set for each graduate student. Examples of research subjects are: - Study of neutrino oscillation and related topics by the Super-Kamiokande experiment. - Study of neutrino CP violation and related topics by the T2K long-baseline experiment. For each research subject, students should - learn particle physics and the status of the latest research by the textbooks and reference papers. - learn how to use the detectors and computers for their research. - understand the uncertainties in the measurements and learn the data analysis methods. - report progress of their research at group meeting and discuss about the outcomes, issues, and short term plans. - try to understand the other subjects by the other group members and join the discussion. - actively participate the seminars, workshops and conferences and present outcomes of their research. - write scientific papers to summarize the outcomes and publish the results of their research. 担当教員の実務経験とそれを活かした教育内容 Work experience of the instructor
