概要 Description
The primary objective of the course is to advance your communicative competence with a focus on listening to news articles on contemporary topics and expressing your prepared ideas about the issues in English. This class will help you improve your vocabulary and natural use of the language. Using news videos distributed by Reuters, you practice watching and comprehending news content, reading articles on related themes, and learning vocabulary and expressions for writing and sharing your opinions.
目的 Objectives

Objectives:
The primary objective of the course is to advance your communicative competence with a focus on spoken English
and develop the ability and confidence to use it in realistic situations with native and other non-native speakers.

到達目標 Outcomes
Through input (reading, viewing, listening), you will develop an interest in contemporary social issues while learning various English expressions and vocabulary, enabling you to use them in actual conversations and presentations.
You will also develop the ability to think independently and critically about media information on a wide range of contemporary social themes—such as science, the environment, and global affairs—and to communicate your own ideas.

Students wanting to take this class must attend from the first lesson. The maximum number of students for this class is 40. If the number of students hoping to register in the first lesson exceeds 40, students will be chosen (by lottery). If the holding of a lottery in the first lesson becomes necessary, class registration will not be automatic. Depending on the situation, 3rd and 4th year students wanting to register for the class will be given priority (but only those who attend the first class).

Most of the information will be given during the class period. It is important for the student to attend every class and do so with a willingness to communicate in English.

Students must earn a score of 60% or more and be in attendance for 2/3 of classes in order to pass.
Less than 2/3 attendance will result in failure regardless of the reason for the absence.
