概要 Description
Inorganic materials, which are widely used in ceramics, cement, and glass, electronic devices, aerospace, and energy materials, have become indispensable in modern society. Many of the properties of these materials are explained by the solid structure of the materials that comprise them and the texture formed during fabrication. In this lecture, we will explain the basic solid structures of these inorganic materials, the relationship between their manufacturing processes and their physical properties, and the methods for evaluating and observing them. Furthermore, starting from the band structure that arises from the overlap of atomic orbitals, we will explain the various functions of inorganic materials, such as electrical conduction, thermoelectric conversion, optical properties, magnetic properties, dielectric properties, and ionic conduction, focusing on their correspondence with crystal structures. As an advanced topic, we will also cover superconductivity as an example of the interesting physical properties exhibited by inorganic materials.
The material stipulated in the curriculum and diploma policy of the department, "Beyond the existing framework of engineering, we will integrate and develop basic science with free ideas and create new materials and new engineering that contribute to the development of industry." In line with the educational purpose of "cultivating creative human resources who contribute to society based on the specialty of materials engineering," which is based on the philosophy of material engineering, this lecture will explain the basics of inorganic materials, their usefulness, and their development. This course aims to enable students to understand those.
