概要 Description
In any organization, a leader inevitably emerges. This holds true not only in companies but also in organizations such as university research laboratories. Therefore, whether consciously or not, everyone is exposed to leadership in their daily lives. On the other hand, there are relatively few people who have formally studied leadership in a classroom setting. Because leadership is such an everyday concept, there is a tendency to rely solely on experiential learning—that is, learning through practice. This characteristic is one of the defining aspects of the topic of leadership. Classroom learning provides insights that cannot be obtained through experiential learning alone and serves as a complement to it. Specifically, classroom learning offers: This course is co-taught by two faculty members with practical experience. Based on real-world leadership cases and experiences, the course aims to provide both (1) and (2) to help students understand leadership from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Furthermore, this course has been conducted as a synchronous online class using Zoom since the 2020 academic year. It is designed for students from multiple graduate schools across three campuses of Tokyo University of Science. The course serves as a space where students with diverse backgrounds and expertise can learn and understand leadership while engaging with one another. The smooth operation of the course is supported by the use of LETUS and Zoom.
