概要 Description
In this course, students will review vocabularies and expressions that are useful for an in-depth conversation about daily issues. Students will be involved in listening and speaking activities. Through listening activities, students will develop their skills to organize their thoughts while listening to others. Through speaking activities, students will build up conversational skills that will be useful for discussion. Oral communication is not just about speaking and listening but should also involve skills related to brainstorming and searching for information. The course aims to develop such skills as well. Some instructions will be given in English. Important announcements such as assignment deadlines and term quizzes' schedules will be given in Japanese. Students are expected to use English throughout the course.
目的 Objectives
The purpose of this course is to develop students' communicative skills of English. By the end of this course, students are expected to feel confident in expressing themselves in English. They also should feel comfortable joining the conversation in English.
到達目標 Outcomes
Through this course, students will develop the ability (1) to organize and express their thoughts and ideas in a logical way, and (2) to discuss daily issues with others in English with confidence. Students will self-check their improvements regularly.
This course aims for CEFR B1 or higher level focusing especially on listening and speaking. Listening By the end of the course, students are should be able to follow and understand a lecture or talk within his/her own field (familiar matters presented straightforward and clear manner. Speaking By the end of the course, students are expected be able to (1) sustain a straightforward description of one of a variety of subjects within his/her field of interest, (2) communicate with some confidence on familiar routine and non-routine matters related to his/her interests and professional field, (3) exchange, check and confirm information, deal with less routine situations and explain why something is a problem (4) can express thoughts on more abstract, cultural topics. 卒業認定・学位授与の方針との関係(学部科目のみ)
