概要 Description
Class description:
This class will focus on
how to deliver an effective presentation in English,
how to listen to presentations, and
how to ask and answer about the presentations.

In class:
Explanations will be given mainly in English (Japanese may be used only when necessary).
目的 Objectives
Objectives of the class:
Students will learn and practice how to deliver an effective presentation in English.
For that purpose, they will learn the basic skills and several ways of presentation.
Also they will learn how to make effective visual aids.
At the same time, they will learn basic skills of question-and-answer.
In addition, students will learn fundamental rules of pronunciation of English.

Targets of the class:
Students will
deliver a 10-20-minute presentation in English,
ask questions about the presentations they hear, and
answer the questions asked by other listeners.

Students must
attend at least 10 sessions,
perform assigned presentations, and
study assignments on LETUS.

Maximum number of students will be around 20.
Those who would like to take this class should attend the first session.
A certain kind of selection will be made, if need be.

★For the assigned (mid-term) and final (term-end) presentations, you must give an original presentation (you cannot reuse the material you have already presented elsewhere).
★Plagiarism will be severely penalised. If you are caught plagiarising, you will lose the course credit.
★PhD course students may be asked to submit the presentation script in an academic essay format (before or after giving the oral/recorded presentation).
