概要 Description
Advanced experimental research in the nano-transport area (nanophotonics, transport in nanomaterials, etc)
目的 Objectives
By conducting advanced research, students will acquire skills useful for both science and applications in wider society. Students will acquire the ability to "actively solve problems in specialized fields" as defined in the Diploma Policy of this major.
到達目標 Outcomes
Students will acquire knowledge and skills necessary for carrying out the research while engaging in experiments in nanotransport. Necessary skills include reading of journal articles, understanding research trends, experimental methods, analysis of experimental results, sharing of progress within the research group, and presenting research results at academic societies. Students should grasp how to assess their own progress. Rather than always getting the right answer, students should learn how to judge whether or not their results, answers, etc are valid by applying systematic scientific thinking.

準備学習・復習 Preparation and review
No specific preparation or review is necessary. Students must come to the course with the goal to think clearly, scientifically, and critically about their own work and previous research works (such as journal papers) which they may study.
成績評価方法 Performance grading policy
Students will be evaluated by their contribution to the laboratory, specifically: seminars, conference presentations, dissertation presentations, laboratory management assistance (e.g. helping graduate research students).

授業計画 Class plan
The class plan is fluid, but based around the following:
・Performance of experiments
・Analysis of experimental data
・Presentation of results

These processes must be followed until a rigorous conclusion is reached, and the progress of the research program must be summarized at the end of the course.
