概要　Description

理系の大学院生は将来社会で専門家として活躍することになるが、知識や権限を持つということはその分責任も重くなることを意味する。したがって、本科目では藤垣裕子『専門知と公共性』（東京大学出版会、2003年）を読みながら、社会における専門性について考えてもらう。
また、このような議論を踏まえながら、各自テーマを設定して社会と科学・技術との関係について事例調査を実施しつつ、成果発表と討論を行う。

テーマは、例えば以下のようなものとなる。
・現在行っている研究の社会的な位置づけ
・テキスト（『専門知と公共性』）で取り上げられた事例についてさらに具体的に掘り下げる
・自分が50歳になり、責任のある立場になった時に社会との間でトラブルが発生した場面を想定し、どう対応するのか

なお、博士後期課程の大学院生の場合は将来大学教員として研究指導をすることになる人も少なくないはずなので、他の参加者の発表に対して積極的に助言をしていただきたい。

Graduate students in science and technology are expected to play active roles in society as future experts, and expertise and authority result in a corresponding increase in responsibilities. Therefore, participants will be required to think about the meaning of their expertise in relation to society while reading a book by Prof. Yuko Fujigaki.
Based on this reading and subsequent discussions, each student will select their own topic for conducting a case study related to science and technology in society. They will present and discuss their results with each other.

Examples of potential topics:
・Social positioning of your current research
・Diving deeper into the cases examined in the text
・Dealing with society-related problems as the leader of an organization

Graduate students in the doctoral program, many of whom may provide research guidance as university faculty members in the future, will be asked to advise actively on the presentations of other participants.

目的　Objectives

教養教育の目標にある以下の能力を獲得するための科目である。
1. 専門分野の枠を超えて広い視野で多元的・複眼的に自然・人間・社会を俯瞰できる能力
