構造工学に対する理解を深めるために必要な知識を習得する。履修者はそれをもとに修士論文を作成する。また，学生の口頭発表や自主学習能力の獲得にも重点を置く。

This course introduces the knowledge needed to deepen understanding of structural engineering, to students taking this course. At the end of the course, students are expected to write master's thesis with the knowledge. It also enhances the development of students’ skill in making oral presentation and self-regulated learning.

建築構造設計を専門とする実務家を育成することを目的とする。
The aim of this course is to help students deepen understanding of structural engineering, and to nurture practitioners of structural design.

到達目標は、
1.構造工学についての最新の研究動向を理解し、修士論文を纏め上げること
2.修士論文の内容についての口頭発表ができ、質問に対して適切に対応できる
3.構造工学の研究の動向に基づき、修士論文の特徴と成果を説明できる。
The goals of this course are to
1. Understand state of the latest research on structural engineering, and be able to write master's thesis.
2. Be able to make presentation and answer questions about the contents of the master's thesis.
3. Be able to explain the characteristics and technical challenges of master's thesis on the basis of the state of the art research on structural engineering.

自主的かつ積極的な取り組みが求められる。
幅広い知識を身につけ、研究意欲を高めることが重要である。
Voluntary and active working is required.
It is necessary to try to acquire a wide range of knowledge.

毎回の習得内容を参考書や文献をもとに復習し理解を深めて次回に臨むことが求められる。
At the end of each class, summary will be provided.
It is important to review the contents and deepen the understanding.

発表審査会での発表及び質疑応答により評価する。
To be evaluated by presentation and question-and-answer at review meeting.

研究テーマや進行状況にあわせて、適宜、指示する。

Materials are distributed in class as needed.

主な研究テーマとして次の項目を取り上げる。
1.安全性と機能回復性を設計目標とした耐震設計法
2.建物の地震後機能維持性
3.建物の修復性評価(修復時間と修復費用の評価)
修士論文に関係する課題について議論する。学生は、修士論文まとめのロードマップ、それまでに得た研究情報、関連する領域の既往の研究、研究動向についての説明を行い、議論を深める。

Main subjects of study are;
1. Design method that consider the safety and functional recovery
2. Post-seismic functionality of buildings
3. Reparability evaluation of buildings (Evaluation of repair time and repair cost)
Students studying will give topics related to master's thesis and discuss each time. Student presentation content shall be, roadmap of master's thesis, knowledge acquired by himself so far, review of past research, trend of field which is currently interested etc.
Students are required to make a presentation about the results of their work at academic conference.
