概要　Description

社会的選択理論とは人々の好みや評価を社会的に集計する方法を科学的に分析する応用数学の一分野です。たとえば、投票システムは人々の候補者への評価を集計して代表者を選ぶというものに他なりません。投票方法によって結果は大きく異なるため、私たちはどの投票方法が望ましいのかきちんと考察する必要があります。また、マーケットデザイン理論とは望ましい制度や取引方法を科学的に考察する応用数学の一分野であり、近年、オークション制度の設計や、研修医の配属先問題、腎臓病患者のドナー問題などで目覚ましい成果を得ています。本講義では、これら社会的選択理論およびマーケット・デザイン理論の基本文献を講読し、望ましい集団的意思決定の方法や制度のデザインの方法についての科学的な知見を学びます。

Social choice theory analyzes how to aggregate individual preferences and gain reasonable social decision. For example, voting is a tool of social system that selects society’s representatives based on voter’s judgement. Since voting winners greatly depend on the voting method itself, we should carefully examine which voting method is useful and rational. Market design theory provides theoretical framework for constructing desirable allocation methods using by techniques on discrete mathematics. Recently, the theory has widely developed and been applied to many contexts of social system such as the design of auction method, hospital assignments among residents, kidney exchange problems. In this course, students are required to read basic literature on social choice and market design theory and learn mathematical results on the problem of designing desirable collective decision making and assignment systems.

目的　Objectives

集団的意思決定の科学的知見および望ましい制度設計の在り方についての理解を深めることを目的とします。

The course aims to deepen the understanding of mathematical results on collective decision making and market design.

到達目標　Outcomes

到達目標は以下の3点です。
1. 投票のメカニズムの問題点を理解し、集団的意思決定の内容に応じて好ましい意思決定・集計の方法について説明できる。
2. 正義や厚生の概念を理解した上で、望ましい社会的評価方法や福祉の評価方法について説明できる。
3. さまざまな文脈に応じて望ましい制度設計の在り方を理解し、現実問題に応用できるようになる。

1. to be able to understand the problems of voting mechanism and explain suitable decision making methods according to the content of social problems.
2. to be able to understand the definitions of justice and welfare and explain suitable social evaluation methods.
3. to be able to understand how to design suitable assignment methods according to various contexts and apply them to real allocation problems.

受講にあたって必要となる専門知識はありませんが、大学初等レベルの数学と基本的な論理は理解している必要があります。
